Recommending books can be done either by filling in the online form or a book recommendation slip available from the Library issue desk .
Approving recommendations
Subject to meeting our collection remit, the Deputy Librarian will approve the recommendation and order a copy from the College suppliers or another source. We try to process orders as quickly as possible, but factors out of our control may cause a delay, so please bear this in mind when placing a request. Books that are ‘print to order’ or that come from overseas publishers may take many weeks to arrive.
An email will be sent when an item is ready for borrowing. Books will usually be held in the Library office for three working days to give the recommender priority in borrowing them. If they are not collected within this time, they will be placed on the open shelves.
Please consult the Library Acquisitions Policy to check that the book you wish to recommend falls within the usual range of books purchased for the Library. If you wish to recommend a book which falls outside these guidelines, you are urged to write to the Deputy Librarian explaining why you feel it should be purchased. The Deputy Librarian may contact your Director of Studies for advice in certain cases, for example if the book is very expensive.
